Future Classic, een hedendaags icoon en onbetwist klassieker van de toekomst. Het is niet verwonderlijk dat de waardering van de 996-generatie de afgelopen jaren een flinke vlucht heeft genomen. Ten opzichte van de luchtgekoelde 993 bood de 996 vanaf de introductie in 1997 meer comfort, vermogen [300pk], veiligheidssystemen [acht airbags en Traction Control] en tóch die iconische uitstraling voor een relatief beperkte investering. Dit fraaie exemplaar uit begin 1999 is de afgelopen jaren optisch volledig gerestaureerd en technisch grondig onder handen genomen, goed voor een investering van circa € 16.000. Laat u zich niet teveel leiden door de hoge tellerstand, want bij 149.276km [juni 2008] is er door Porsche een volledig nieuwe fabrieksmotor met de relevante IMS- en AOS-modificatie geplaatst. Met uitzonderlijk uitgebreide documentatie vanaf de nieuw-levering, alle accessoires [hardtop in kleur, afdekhoes, windscherm, reservewiel, gereedschapskit etc.] en aantrekkelijke configuratie is dit een 911 om zorgeloos mee te rijden!
Hoe populair ook, een grijze muis zal het model nooit worden: zélfs niet wanneer de carrosserie Arktissilber metallic kleurt. Het signatuur komt er uitermate krachtig mee tot zijn recht en dankzij recente spuitwerkzaamheden is het exterieur nagenoeg niet van nieuw te onderscheiden. In tegenstelling tot andere 996’en uit de jaren ’90 zijn de knipperlichten rondom wit van kleur en de breedset 18" Carrera-velgen [van een 997] vullen de wielkasten perfect op en maken de auto wat moderner. Initieel was het cabrio-dak zwart, maar in 2008 is er door Porsche een nieuwe Metropol blauwe soft-top geplaatst. In het eveneens Metropol blauwe interieur treffen we louter hoogwaardige materialen, inclusief het gewilde 3-spaaks stuurwiel, uitgebreide leder-afwerking, origineel PCM-infotainment en een Premium Sound-systeem van Harmann. Laatstgenoemde was relevant voor één van de voorgaande eigenaren [2018 t/m 2023], namelijk een bekende muzikant, Toni Peroni. In combinatie met de sport-einddempers is het auditief optimaal genieten.
Voor ieder postuur zitten de comfortstoelen zitten aangenaam, ze zijn meervoudig elektrisch verstel- en verwarmbaar en de bestuurderszijde heeft geheugen. Comfort wordt tevens geboden door Climate Control met airconditioning, boordcomputer, elektrische cabrio-kap en ramen, verwarmde- en verstelbare spiegels, schakelmogelijkheid aan het stuurwiel, stuurbekrachtiging en een windscherm. Qua infotainment is hierbij nog het originele Porsche Communication Systeem geïnstalleerd, inclusief CD-wisselaar en de telefoonhouder. Achterin zitten twee volwaardige zitplaatsen met driepuntsgordels. De instaplijsten zijn voorzien van roestvrijstaal, een gewilde Porsche Exclusive-optie. Relevant voor de verzekering is dat er alarmklasse 3 met geldig SCM-certificaat op zit; het is desondanks wel aan te raden om de Porsche 3-jaarlijks te laten taxeren op vervangingswaarde. De laatste eigenaar heeft de auto zakelijk als youngtimer geboekt met een fiscale waarde [WEV] van € 10.000, dat is aantrekkelijk voor de bijtelling.
Deze 911 heeft een cataloguswaarde van € 147.292,- en is nieuw geleverd in Stuttgart aan een particulier uit Iserlohn. Diegene genoot er volop van, want bij de import in Nederland op 5 oktober 2000 had de auto al ruim zestig duizend kilometer en vier onderhoudsbeurten bij Porsche Lennetal gehad. Tot de motor-wissel in 2008 werd er relatief veel mee gereden, daarna werd het voornamelijk een seizoensauto, inclusief binnenstalling, winter-schorsing, tijdig onderhoud en veel intrinsieke zorg. Tot 2023 passeerden zes particuliere eigenaren de revue en nadien hebben wij de Porsche nog vier keer verkocht aan vaste klanten, veelal als opstap naar een jongere 911 of andere sport-auto. Alle vorige eigenaren zijn gedocumenteerd, inclusief facturen, oude foto’s etc. Het voordeel is dat de waarde -bij goed onderhoud- stabiel blijft en licht stijgt, waardoor het aantrekkelijk is om een upgrade te maken. De laatste eigenaar, waarvoor we hem nu in consignatie aanbieden, heeft het afgelopen jaar 5.000km gereden en inmiddels een Boxster S gekocht. Hij heeft de deuren, kofferbak, zijschermen voor- en achter, raamlijsten, dorpels en hardtop laten spuiten; een foto-reportage daarvan is inzichtelijk. De overige panelen waren zijn in 2024 al opnieuw gespoten, net als de velgen en remklauwen.
Onderhoud werd in Duitsland uitgevoerd bij 5.616km [31-5-1999], 21.536km [13-9-1999], 42.900km [14-3-2000] en 60.148km [21-9-2000]. Nadien treffen we stempels bij 156.283km [8-11-2008], 184.094km [8-11-2010], 198.177km [24-5-2012], 212.187km [16-11-2013], 231.149km [30-8-2013], 243.285km [2-1-2014] en 306.040km [9-7-2024]. Van de tussenliggende periodes zijn onderhoudsfacturen inzichtelijk, evenals het vele onderhoud van de afgelopen jaren. Dit jaar zijn de remschijven en -blokken achter, multiriem, kettingspanners, veel koelwaterslangen, buisjes bobines, het dynamo, diverse keerringen, olie-leidingen en versnellingsbakolie, in combinatie met een kleine beurt bij specialist Longhoods. In 2025 zijn de condensors en radiateurs vervangen, inclusief airco-service. In 2024 treffen we facturen van een grote onderhoudsbeurt met bougies, bobines, remvloeistof, carterpan, stabilisatorstang en stand schakelaar van de automaat. Dat jaar zijn er ook nieuwe Pirelli-banden met N-codering gemonteerd, net als 7mm spacers, nieuwe zonnekleppen, ruitenwissers en nog wat andere zaken. De motor klinkt, ook bij een koude start, zijdezacht [zonder rook-ontwikkeling] en de automaat schakelt probleemloos. De airco wordt snel koud. Het verleden is ongevalsvrij. De APK geldt tot 19 maart 2027.

Future Classic, a contemporary icon and undisputed classic of the future. It is not surprising that the appreciation for the 996 generation has soared in recent years. Compared to the air-cooled 993, the 996 offered more comfort, power [300 hp], safety systems [eight airbags and Traction Control] and yet that iconic appearance from its introduction in 1997, for a relatively limited investment. This fine example from early 1999 has been fully visually restored and thoroughly overhauled technically over the past few years, representing an investment of approximately €16,000. Do not be too put off by the high mileage, as at 149,276 km [June 2008], Porsche installed a completely new factory engine with the relevant IMS and AOS modifications. With exceptionally extensive documentation from new delivery, all accessories [body-matched hardtop, cover, wind deflector, spare wheel, tool kit, etc.], and an attractive configuration, this is a 911 to drive with peace of mind!
No matter how popular it may be, the model will never be a wallflower: not even when the bodywork is finished in Arctic Silver metallic. It brings out the signature with extreme power, and thanks to recent paintwork, the exterior is virtually indistinguishable from new. Unlike other 996s from the 1990s, the turn signals are white all around, and the wide-set 18" Carrera rims [from a 997] fill the wheel arches perfectly and give the car a somewhat more modern look. Initially, the convertible roof was black, but in 2008, Porsche installed a new Metropol Blue soft-top. In the equally Metropol Blue interior, we find nothing but high-quality materials, including the coveted 3-spoke steering wheel, extensive leather trim, original PCM infotainment, and a Harman Premium Sound system. The latter was relevant to one of the previous owners [2018 to 2023], namely a famous musician, Toni Peroni. Combined with the sports exhaust silencers, it offers optimal auditory enjoyment.
The comfort seats are pleasant for any build; they are electrically adjustable and heated in multiple ways, and the driver’s side has memory function. Comfort is further enhanced by Climate Control with air conditioning, an on-board computer, and electric convertible top and windows, heated and adjustable mirrors, steering wheel paddle shifters, power steering, and a wind deflector. In terms of infotainment, the original Porsche Communication System is also installed, including a CD changer and a phone holder. There are two full-size seats in the rear with three-point seat belts. The door sill plates feature stainless steel, a sought-after Porsche Exclusive option. Relevant for insurance purposes is that it is equipped with Class 3 alarm systems with a valid SCM certificate; nevertheless, it is advisable to have the Porsche appraised for replacement value every three years. The last owner registered the car for business use as a youngtimer with a taxable value [WEV] of €10,000, which is attractive for company car tax purposes.
This 911 has a list price of €147,292 and was delivered new in Stuttgart to a private individual from Iserlohn. That person enjoyed it thoroughly, because upon import into the Netherlands on October 5, 2000, the car already had over sixty thousand kilometers and four It has had maintenance services at Porsche Lennetal. Until the engine swap in 2008, it was driven relatively frequently; after that, it became primarily a seasonal car, involving indoor storage, winter suspension, timely maintenance, and a great deal of intrinsic care. Six private owners passed through the doors up to 2023, and since then we have sold the Porsche four more times to regular customers, mostly as a stepping stone to a younger 911 or other sports car. All previous owners are documented, including invoices, old photos, etc. The advantage is that the value—with good maintenance—remains stable and increases slightly, making it attractive to upgrade. The last owner, for whom we are now offering it on consignment, drove 5,000 km in the past year and has since purchased a Boxster S. He had the doors, trunk, front and rear fenders, window frames, sills, and hardtop repainted; a photo report of this is available for viewing. The remaining panels were already repainted in 2024, as were the rims and brake calipers.
Maintenance was performed in Germany at 5,616 km [31-5-1999], 21,536 km [13-9-1999], 42,900 km [14-3-2000], and 60,148 km [21-9-2000]. Subsequently, we find stamps at 156,283 km [8-11-2008], 184,094 km [8-11-2010], 198,177 km [24-5-2012], 212,187 km [16-11-2013], 231,149 km [30-8-2013], 243,285 km [2-1-2014], and 306,040 km [9-7-2024]. Maintenance invoices for the intermediate periods are available for inspection, as well as the extensive maintenance of recent years. This year, the rear brake discs and pads, serpentine belt, chain tensioners, many coolant hoses, ignition coil tubes, the alternator, various seals, oil pipes and Gearbox oil, combined with a minor service at specialist Longhoods. In 2025, the condensers and radiators were replaced, including air conditioning service. In 2024, we find invoices for a major service including spark plugs, ignition coils, brake fluid, oil pan, stabilizer bar, and automatic transmission selector switch. That year, new N-coded Pirelli tires were also fitted, as well as 7mm spacers, new sun visors, windshield wipers, and a few other items. The engine sounds silky smooth [without smoke], even on a cold start, and the automatic transmission shifts without issues. The air conditioning cools down quickly. The vehicle has an accident-free history. The MOT is valid until March 19, 2027.
